Neighborhood
Buena Vista Park is a quiet 44-acre respite, dense with foliage which unveils a great dog park at the top of the hill. It is the second largest park in the city and was planted at the time of Golden Gate Park. The actual geographic center of the city is just a few blocks away.
There are many historic and important homes around the horseshoe of the park that date from the turn of the century, like the Spreckels Family's "summer" home. Many artists, musicans, architects, and other famous citizens have lived on the park and worked nearby, like Bobby McFerrin (who sang "Don't Worry, Be Happy") and Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills and Nash).
The Buena Vista / Ashbury Heights neighborhood is located near the famous Haight-Ashbury and Cole Valley, which features city meccas like The Boulange café and Cole Street Hardware. Cole Valley is just a few blocks south of the Haight, but couldn’t be more different from its hippy neighbor. Here you’ll find a quaint neighborhood just 2 blocks long that is a wonderful place to raise kids or just live the San Francisco life. There are many great restaurants packed in here, like Eos, Grandeho's Kamekyo Sushi Bar, Zazie (great for brunch) and the Reverie, a relaxing coffee house.
