The Marina District of San Francisco shines with the bright colors of Mediterranean-style homes and stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Marina Green.
Much of the Marina District real estate, which consists of 1920-style flats and apartments, were constructed after the area was built up for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. The most prestigious artifact of the event is the Palace of Fine Arts, designed by Bernard Maybeck, and now home to The Exploratorium.
The centerpiece of this neighborhood is Chestnut Street, dense with shops, restaurants and entertainment. Unique eateries abound like Bistro Aix, Ace Wasabi, Greens, The Tipsy Pig, Circa, The Plant Cafe and the critically acclaimed A16.
Unlike parking, shopping is plentiful. Check out Books Inc, Rabat Shoes, Pottery Barn, City Optix for eyeglasses, BeneFit for cosmetics, Giggle for babies, and Lucca Deli for classic Italian food.
