THE OAKLAND/EMERYVILLE BORDER IS FAST BECOMING
A FAVORITE PLACE FOR MANY FIRST-TIME AND SEASONED HOMEBUYERS.
Many of the homes in the zip code 94608, which forms a zig-zag
border between Oakland and Emeryville, are 100 years old, but
the charm and “fixer” aspect of these houses is
drawing new buyers and investors alike who aren’t afraid
of a little sweat to make a home their own. Many of the new
housing developments in Emeryville are townhouse style, new
construction and mixed-use projects. However, some traditionalists
want a house with a picket fence and backyard. The Oakland/Emeryville
border offers a less-expensive alternative for buyers who couldn’t
afford these types of homes in North Oakland or Berkeley. All
of this is changing, as this market has become red hot.
Many homes in the Oakland/Emeryville neighborhood in the past
six months have gone over asking, often as a result of bidding
wars. The following is a summary of recent market activity
in the Oakland/Emeryville border neighborhood: There is still
time to take advantage of this emerging neighborhood. The properties
on the Oakland/Emeryville border may be selling quickly, but
their quaintness will remain.
