Eureka Valley/Dolores Heights, San Francisco
Historically known as Eureka Valley, The Castro has been considered the Bay Area capital of the gay community since the 1970s. Now The Castro is a thriving, exciting area that always seems be bustling.
The love and dedication inhabitants feel for the area can be seen in their websites, like CastroOnline, CastroSF, WebCastro and TheCastro.net. There are many popular events in the area, including the Castro Street Fair, Pride Weekend and, of course, the Castro Halloween Parade (see photos).
